Memorial Name.” TLV
Hosea 12:5 “even יהוה Elohim of hosts, יהוה is His remembrance.” The Scriptures
*LORD = Yehôvâh from hâyâh
compilation of Yâhh and Yehôvîh; the self-Existent or
Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national Name of GOD: Jehovah, the Lord.
*LORD = ’Ădônây an emphatic form of ’âdôwn or ’âdôn;
the Lord (used as a proper name of GOD only):-(my) Lord.
Do you think about GOD daily? I do not mean “GOD, Help Me!”, “Father,
Heal Me!”, even “GOD Bless Israel!”. Those are types of prayers not thoughts,
whether you think them in your head or say them out loud, they are prayers to
GOD; not thoughts about GOD.
The Hebrews so reverenced GOD’s Name that they feared
misusing it so they stopped using it. +GOD’s Hebrew Name, ADONAI, is a
tetragrammaton of the Hebrew letters יהוה Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh (YHVH) rendered
in English as Yahweh or Jehovah, and these are rendered as LORD.
So, do you think about GOD’s Name or do you just use it? Most
of us Christians before we were born again used GOD’s name in anger and as a
curse. While we have changed the method of how we use GOD’s Name, we still just
use His Name; when we want to get something from Him or as a salutation to
others. But we do not actually usually use GOD’s Name, we usually use His
Title, GOD.
*GOD = ’ĕlôhiym plural of ’ĕlôwahh, ’ĕlôahh;
gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus
especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of
deference to magistrates) and sometimes as a superlative:-angels, X exceeding,
God (gods) (-dess,, ly), X (very) great, judges, X mighty.
*GOD = ’êl from ’Êîyâh or Êlîyâhûw; strength;
as adjective mighty; especially the Almighty (but used also of any deity):-God
(god), X godly, X great, idol, might (-y one), power, strong. Compare names in
“-el.” Such as Beth-el.
When the religious Hebrews speak or think GOD’s Name, ADONAI,
they understand Who He is by His Name: The Self-existent, Eternal One! The One
Who created everything that exists. The Bible teaches us that ADONAI is Omniscient,
Omnipotent and Omnipresent. That means that He is all knowing, that means there
is nothing hidden from Him, He sees all, hears all and understands all. That He
is All Powerful, there is nothing or no being that is stronger or mightier than
He, or that can outdo Him in anything. That He is everywhere at all times,
since everything exists within Him He is always all around it, since everything
exists for Him He is always within it.
So GOD’s Name is not GOD, He is GOD, The Only, True and
Living GOD! His Name is יהוה (YHVH as best we know). It does not matter if we call Him
GOD, Father or LORD, but his Name is I AM, The Self Existing One “Ehyeh
Asher Ehyeh” (“I am/will be what I am/will be”).
GOD said to Moshe, “Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh” (“I am/will be what
I am/ will be”), and added, “Here is what to say to the people of Isra’el:
‘Ehyeh (I am or I will be) has sent me to you.’” GOD said further to Moshe,
“Say this to the people of Isra’el: ‘Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh {JEHOVAH}, The GOD
of your fathers, The GOD of Avraham, The GOD of Yitz’chak and The GOD of Ya‘akov,
has sent me to you.’ This is My Name forever; this is how I am to be remembered
generation after generation.” Exodus 3:14-15 CJB
