Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to ME, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will Give you Rest. Take MY yoke upon you and Learn from ME, for I AM Gentile and lowly in Heart, and you will find Rest for your souls. For MY yoke is easy and MY burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV (emphasis mine)
This passage follows JESUS prayer to HIS Father and a statement of HIS Purpose: (Prayer) “At that time JESUS answered and said, ‘I thank You, Father, LORD of Heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.’ (Purpose) ‘All things have been delivered to ME by MY Father, and no one knows The Son except The Father. Nor does anyone know The Father except the Son, and the one to whom The Son wills to reveal HIM.’” Matthew 11:25-27 NKJV (emphasis mine)
Some use passages like this to say that some people are predestined for salvation and some are not; but that goes against JESUS’ own Words that followed HIS statement; “Come to ME, all you who labor and are heaven laden,” and of Course John 3:16-17: “For GOD so Loved the world that HE Gave HIS Only Begotten SON, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting Life. For GOD did not send HIS Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through HIM might be Saved.”
The passage, “Take MY yoke upon you and Learn from ME,” is the key to this section of Scripture. This is the heart attitude of those who fully yield their will and life to GOD’s purpose.
“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers…And Jabez called on The GOD of Israel, saying, ‘Oh, that You would Bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So GOD granted him what he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
“The LORD is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear?...One thing I have desired of The LORD, that I will seek: that I may dwell in The House of The LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty (delightfulness) of The LORD, and to inquire in His Temple…Wait on The LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on The LORD!” Psalm 27
“The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, his utterance. This man declared to Ithiel –to Ithiel and Ucal: I am more stupid than any man, and do not have the understanding of a man. I neither learned wisdom not have knowledge of the Holy ONE. Who has ascended into Heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fist? Who has bound the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is HIS Name, and what is HIS Son’s Name, if you know? Every Word of GOD is Pure; HE is a Shield to those who put their trust in HIM…Two things I request of YOU (deprive me not before I die): remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches…” Proverbs 30:1-9
