1 Corinthians 16:13

 “Watch ye, stand fast in the Faith, quit you like men, be strong.” King James version

No matter how the original is translated the message is the same;

We are called to watch – JESUS told us to watch for His return, to know the signs of the time in which we live, Matthew 24:36-44, 25:1-13.

We are called to stand fast in the Faith – JESUS asked if He would find faith in the Believers on His return, Luke 18:8.

We are called to be brave – JESUS told us we would be hated, jailed and ostracized, Matthew 5:10-12; Mark 13:9-13.

We are called to be strong – JESUS told us we would be persecuted even to death, John 16:1-4.

 

So are you watching, standing in Faith, being brave and strong; or are you waiting?

Waiting is a verb, but it implies doing nothing, it is just being.

 

The challenge of Paul based on his experience as a Believer and his knowledge of JESUS is action packed and demonstrated by his life. Before his encounter with JESUS he was active in his faith as he persecuted the Believers because he believed he was serving GOD. After his encounter with JESUS he was even more active in preaching The Gospel to everyone, Romans 1:16-17; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23.
