To Be A Christian We Must Do The Will Of GOD!

 

“Therefore my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is GOD Who works in you both to will and to do for His Good Pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13

 

“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of CHRIST’s sufferings, that when His Glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.” 1 Peter 4:12-13

 

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of GOD, Who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:2-5

 

“Yet indeed I count all things loss for the excellence of the Knowledge of CHRIST JESUS my LORD, for Whom I have suffered loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain CHRIST, and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in CHRIST, the righteousness that is from GOD by faith; that I may know Him and the Power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:8-11

 

JESUS, taught us to pray, Our Father, Who is in Heaven, Holy is Your Name, Your Kingdom come Your Will be done in the earth as it is in Heaven.” Matthew 6:9-10

To be a Christian we must do the Will of GOD rather than our own will! We must fulfill GOD’s desire rather than our own desire!

How do we do that, by learning GOD’s Word, The Bible! We must come to Bible studies like this one, if we can we must get and read everyday a Bible.

TONY’S TOP TEN

 

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

1. God gave the 10 Commandments fully aware that Israel had no ability to keep them.

2. In essence the law proved that Israel was no different than any other nation when it comes to the matters of sin.

3. The law’s purpose was to prove that man is a sinner, possesses sin and cannot overcome it in order to be righteous before God, even the Jews.

4. The purpose of the law for Israel was to show them what sin was and that they were no more righteous with the law than the Gentiles without the law.

5. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

6. The clear meaning here is that this included the Jews on the same plain as the Gentiles who they thought to be sinners instead of themselves whom they thought to be righteous because of the law.

7. Paul is bringing the Jews into the stark realization that the righteousness of God cannot be achieved by obeying the law but only by faith in Jesus Christ upon all them that believe.

8. The idea of attaining righteousness by keeping the law, good works, or performance is put to rest by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who through faith in him is the only access to righteousness before God.

9. Here’s the irony, even though righteousness is without the law, the law was given as a witness to that very fact.

10. This fact was even revealed by the prophet Habakkuk long before the birth of Christ in Habakkuk 2:4 but the just shall live by his faith.

I heard a TV Pastor say, “The best motivation for obeying GOD is rewards in Heaven.”

That is a bald face lie! That is a religious program to control your life, and religion keeps you from GOD. Religion is self motivation to be better, not surrender to be changed. We are called to surrender our life to JESUS and let The HOLY SPIRIT conform us to The Image of JESUS. We are to be JESUS motivated, or as JESUS did, fulfill the Will of GOD over our own will.

 

“And JESUS came out and went as usual to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed Him. When He reached the place, He said to them, ‘Pray that you will not enter into temptation.’ And He pulled back about a stone’s throw from them, got on His knees, and began to pray, saying, ‘Father, if You are Willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My Will, but Yours be done.’” Luke 22:39-42

 

“A final word, when all has been heard: Fear GOD and keep His commandments! For this applies to all mankind. GOD will bring every deed into judgment, including everything that is hidden, whether it is good or bad,” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.’…’Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When any one hears The Word of The Kingdom,…The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;’…Another parable He put forth to them, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed,’…Another parable He spoke to them: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven,’…’Again The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field,’…’Again, The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,’…’Again, The Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,’…JESUS said to them, ‘Have you understood these things?’ They said to Him, ‘Yes, LORD.’ Then He said to them, ‘Therefore every scribe (scholar) instructed concerning The Kingdom of Heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.’” Matthew 13:1-52

 

Verse 12 is not talking about worldly things and abundance – it is about the things of The Kingdom of GOD and abundance: not earthly treasure where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal – but Heavenly treasure which are righteousness, mercy, justice, healing, provision (Matthew 6:25-34), Gifts of The SPIRIT, Fruit of The SPIRIT, persecutions, trials, tests, temptations, and eternal life (Matthew 6:19-24).

 

We are not called to seek comfort and a good life, we are called to obey and serve. Our material position in the world is not the driving force of our service to GOD’s Kingdom in the earth, it is a tool to minister to people. JESUS left His Glory in Heaven to be a human and live as we do so that He could bring His Kingdom to the earth and deliver it to those who will serve Him (Philippians 2:5-11). Paul said he became all things to all men that he might save some (1 Corinthians 9:19-23).

 

Too many in the Western Church are looking for the good life and the rapture, when GOD is calling us to service, sacrifice and to endure.

When we think of GOD’s Grace and Mercy it is usually towards ourself and our family; not towards those who oppose us, not towards the wicked. Because we have forgotten that we were once just like them. We are compelled to preach to the lost only when we think of GOD’s Grace to save us rather than let us go to hell.

So many Christians do not seem to understand that GOD did not save them from hell so that they can go to Heaven. Yes, Heaven is the goal, but there is a purpose that GOD gives to every person at the time of their conception and that can only be fulfilled by yielding our life to The Will of GOD through JESUS CHRIST and The SPIRIT of GOD by knowing and by living according to The Bible.

JESUS did not say that it would be easy, He did say the road was narrow and hard, He did say that we would be persecuted and have trials. But the eternal rewards are worth the temporal hardships.

“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have Hope.” Romans 15:4

 

Luke 5:17-26 One day JESUS is in a house teaching and it is crowded. So crowded, that friends of a crippled man who have carried him to the house cannot get in. So they go onto the roof and break through and lower the man down into the crowd through the hole. This brings the meeting to a halt, and JESUS seeing their faith tells the man, “Man, your sins are forgiven!” This causes no small discord among the religious leaders and JESUS knows what they are thinking. So He challenges their religious thinking by saying, “Why are you raising questions in your hearts? Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you.’ Or to say, ‘Get up and walk.’? But so you know that The Son of Man has authority on earth to pardon sins….He says to the paralyzed one, ‘I tell you, get up and take your cot and go home!’” Immediately the man got up, picked up his cot and left, glorifying GOD. The people there were astonished and said, “We’ve seen incredible things today!”

 

Oswald Chambers once said, “It is no use to wait for GOD to help us, He will not; but immediately we arise we find He is there.” I’ve always had some issues with that philosophy, but this morning as I was meditating on this story I realized that the crippled man was passive through the whole experience until JESUS told him to get up and walk. Did he feel a surge of GOD’s Power and realize he was healed or did he just obey in faith? What about the crippled man by the pool of Bethesda or the blind man whom JESUS put mud on his eyes and told him to go wash his eyes? None of these men had to do what JESUS told them, but they did and they all got healed!

 

Faith is not a noun, it is an action verb, if we have faith, we will obey!
