The USNS Comfort was rushed to New York City Harbor to help care for the tens of thousands of coronavirus patients that were expected to fill the city’s hospital beds. The floating military hospital added a full 1,000 beds to the system’s capacity.

The ship is now leaving, having been barely used. In New York City, the much-feared collapse of the health system never happened. Extra ventilators, like the hospital ship, are available for other places.

The ship’s stay in the hot zone and its departure are highly symbolic.

Across the country, hospitals prepared for Armageddon by clearing out space to deal with the expected waves of COVID-19 victims. Then, everywhere the health system was underwhelmed by an Armageddon that never came. Now, hospitals are laying off medical staff or even going bankrupt. The lack of patients and the canceling of elective surgeries seriously harmed them financially. People are dying because they postponed vital operations.

Something went seriously wrong with the models used to project the threat to public health. These models were not even close to reality. The most cited was released by a team from the Imperial College London led by Prof. Neil Ferguson. It was used by a large number of governments to impose extreme confinement measures on their citizens. These political leaders showed more faith and reverence for this model’s skewed projections than they accord to the Four Gospels. These London experts estimated 2.2 million Americans would die. Only a fraction of that number succumbed. The study’s principal author later admitted that the wild estimates were based on thousands of lines of undocumented code written 13 years ago to model flu pandemics. These initial models were not just miscalculations but guesstimates based on a poor application of science. A politicized media then ran with them.

No one has yet been called to accounts over this massive mistake. These scientists still have their jobs. The government leaders who rashly and unquestionably accepted and acted on their inflated numbers are still in office. Irresponsible media continues to whip up hysteria.

At the same time, political leaders smugly ignored doctors and scientists like Dr. John Ioannidis of Stanford University. Their studies and insights were quite close to accurate and estimated the lethality rate was close to that of the seasonal flu. Had they been given favorable hearing, it could have saved the hospital system a great deal of time and money. Their politically incorrect yet epidemiologically correct insights could have saved lives and trouble.

Not satisfied with their disastrous handling of the crisis in the medical field, government leaders doubled down and went for an encore in the economy and society-at-large. The wheels of industry and commerce came to a screeching halt in anticipation of the pandemic that would kill millions. A good portion of the world is still in some phase of lockdown. These decisions too were based on the same faulty models. They are triggering a meltdown.

Government actions should be based on real data and sound science. The continued implementation of extreme confinement measures based on these flawed guesstimate models is nothing but socio-political and economic suicide.

Vast stretches of America with few or no cases of the virus were treated with the same drastic rigor as New York City, the national hot spot. Vibrant businesses and operations were simplistically divided into just two groups: “essential” or “non-essential.” Who knows what questionable criteria informed this un-Solomonic decision seeing that in many states abortion mills, marijuana dispensaries and liquor stores were deemed “essential,” but not so churches and religious gatherings.

When integrated modern economies stop, whole supply chains also halt. Components of the process often cannot be repurposed. Massive amounts of goods and foodstuffs must be donated or thrown away.

The sheer scope of economic destruction is mind-boggling. In March and April, markets shed trillions of dollars in value. Important industries like hospitality and travel ground to a halt. Debt skyrocketed. Government spending ballooned out of all control. Tens of millions no longer have jobs and are collecting unemployment aid.

Worst of all, the business world, eager to reopen, is subject to the slow and cruel vagaries of the same politicians who landed them in their current fate. Many government leaders now extend the lockdowns in a vacuous attempt to save face and “prove” the closings were indeed needed. Other government officials are ideologues and care nothing for the economic calamity. They see the crisis as an opportunity to ram through their socialist and green agendas.

The great danger is not the virus but rather the bungling of its handling. It led to measures that are destroying the social and economic order. A do-whatever-it-takes attitude is burning the house down when a flashlight would have been sufficient to illuminate and find a solution to the problem.

One day, history will judge with great severity the guilt of all involved in creating the panic and hysteria informing this crisis. It will condemn harshly those who have openly and unashamedly used the crisis to pursue their subversive ideological goals. To varying degrees, each must bear some responsibility for this medical and economic calamity. They will share in the blame for those who will perish by illness, suicide, anxiety and other indirect causes of death wrought by the worldwide panic and everything it triggered.

The only way out of the crisis is to pull out of this suicidal course. Now. Immediately. No one can be obliged to commit suicide. Like the USNS Comfort, it is time to leave the New York harbor behind.

Many scholars believe that John Mark, the nephew of Barnabas and a son of one of the New Testament Mary’s is the author of this Gospel. Some believe that it was dictated by the Apostle Peter. It is believed to be the first of the Gospels written in the late 50’s or early 60’s.

1:1-8 “The beginning of the Good News of YESHUA the Messiah, the Son of GOD: It is written in the prophet Yesha’yahu (Isaiah),

‘See, I Am sending My messenger ahead of you;

He will prepare the way before You.’

‘The voice of someone calling out:

“In the desert prepare the way for ADONAI!

Make straight paths for Him!”’”

1:1-3 CJB (Malachi 3:1, Isaiah 40:3)

1:4-8 Mark introduces John The Baptist in the wilderness calling the Jewish people to a baptism in water for returning to GOD and repentance from sin. The people flock to him to be baptized and they wonder if he is the Messiah. John proclaims, “After me is coming someone who is more powerful than I – I’m not worthy even to bend down and untie His sandals. I have immersed you in water, but He will immerse you in The Ruach HaKodesh (The HOLY SPIRIT).” 1:7-8 CJB

1:9-13 Mark introduces JESUS of Nazareth in Galilee and describes His baptism by John in the Jordan river. “Immediately upon coming up out of the water, He saw Heaven torn open and The SPIRIT descending upon Him like a dove, then a voice came from Heaven, : ‘You are My Son, whom I Love; I Am well pleased with You.’” JESUS being filled by The HOLY SPIRIT and then driven by The SPIRIT into the wilderness where He was tempted for forty days by the adversary (the devil), that He was with wild animals and the angels took care of Him. In the Gospels of Matthew and Luke it is recorded that JESUS did not eat during the forty days of testing.

1:14-15 After John The Baptist in arrested JESUS went through Galilee proclaiming the Good News from GOD:

“The time has come,

GOD’s Kingdom is near!

Turn to GOD from your sins

And believe the Good News!”

1:16-20 JESUS calls His first disciples Peter, Andrew, James and John, all while they are fishing or repairing their fishing nets. They all four left their trade and income at that point to follow JESUS. This condensed introduction of JESUS, John The Baptist and the first disciples is evidence that Mark was writing to Messianic Jews, they already knew the facts of JESUS’ birth and baptism, they did not need convincing.

1:21-28 Mark’s first ministry of JESUS is on the Sabbath in a synagogue, it is in Capernaum, “They were amazed at the way He taught, for He did not instruct them like the Torah-teachers but as One who had authority Himself.” Then a man in the synagogue that had a demonic spirit shouted, “What do You want with us. YESHUA from Natzeret (Nazareth)? Have you come to destroy us? I know who You are – The Holy One of GOD!” JESUS rebuked the unclean spirit saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” The unclean spirit threw the man into a convulsion and with a shriek left him. The people were amazed and began asking each other, “What is this? A new teaching, one with authority behind it! He gives orders even to the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!” Then the news about JESUS spread quickly throughout Galilee. JESUS introduces Himself as a teacher and minister of the authority of GOD but in Mark’s Gospel He often downplays His role as the Messiah to the general public.

1:29-34 JESUS, Peter, Andrew, James and John leave the synagogue and go to Peter’s home where his mother-in-law is sick with a fever, for a woman to be in bed with a fever it had to be very serious, JESUS takes her by the hand and lifts her from the bed healed of the fever so that she then begins to minister to them as she would as the head female of the household. Later, after sunset the town’s people bring their sick and those with unclean spirit to Peter’s house for JESUS to heal and set free.

1:35-39 “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, YESHUA got up, left, went away to a lonely spot and stayed there praying.” JESUS as the Son of Man needed to be in the presence of His Heavenly Father as the Son of GOD to be refreshed and strengthened for the Work of The Kingdom that He was here to do. How much more do we need to spend quite time alone with our Heavenly Father and His Word to refresh and strengthen ourselves for the Work of His Kingdom that He called us to.

1:40-45 “A man afflicted with tzara’at (leprosy) came to YESHUA and begged Him on his knees, ‘If You are willing, You can make me clean.’” JESUS was moved and touching the man said, “I Am willing, be cleansed!” Instantly the man was cleansed and JESUS sent him away with the instructions not to tell anyone but to show himself to the priests and offer what Moses commanded for his cleansing. But the man went out and told everyone about what JESUS had done for him, so then JESUS could no longer go openly into the towns but stayed in the country, but the people still flocked to wherever He was. Touching is important in praying for others, James 5:14 tells us to lay hands and anoint with oil when praying for the sick. Only three times in the Gospels is someone healed or set free who were not in JESUS’ presence or touched by Him; the Centurion’s servant (Luke 7:1-10), the Syro-Phoenician’s daughter (Mark 7:24-30) and the nobleman’s son (John 4:46-54).

The anointing that was on JESUS as the Son of Man – The Son of GOD was unique and we should never claim it or try to duplicate it; but we should be sensitive to GOD’s SPIRIT and know His Word so that when He leads us we will obey as a faithful servant to do what He says, how He says, when He says and where He says to do it.

4:1-20 JESUS is teaching the public again and He tells them the parable of sowing seed and He concludes the teaching with the phrase, “Whoever has ears to hear with, let him hear!” vs. 9 CJB. This is a key statement that He makes when teaching, especially in The Revelation. The reason He makes this statement when teaching is explained in the next few verses; after the teaching time the disciples asked Him why He taught the people in parables. He replied, “To you the secret of the Kingdom of GOD has been given; but to those outside, everything is in parables, so that they may be always looking but never seeing; always listening but never understanding. Otherwise, they might turn and be forgiven!” vss. 11-12 CJB, which is a quote from Isaiah 6:9-10. Speaking to Isaiah when Isaiah realized he is a sinner from a people who are sinners because they have GOD’s Word but they do not follow it.

“He said, ‘Go and tell this people:

                        ‘Yes, you hear, but you don’t understand.

                        You certainly see, but you don’t get the point!

                        Make the heart of this people [sluggish with] fat,

                        stop up their ears, and shut their eyes.

                        Otherwise, seeing with their eyes,

                        and hearing with their ears,

                        then understanding with their hearts,

                        they might repent and be healed!’”

CJB “Then YESHUA said to them, ‘Don’t you understand this parable? How will you be able to understand any parable?’” vs. 13 CJB then He goes on to explain the parable to the disciples. The sower sows the message, those along the path no sooner hear it then the adversary comes and steals it; the rocky patches are trials or persecutions that come along and those who had received the message with joy fall away; the thorns are the cares of life and the world that choke out the truth and they are fruitless; and the rich soil produces 30, 60 or 100 fold of fruit.

Verses 21-25, “He said to them, ‘A lamp isn’t brought in to be put under a bowl or under the bed, is it? Wouldn’t you put it on a lampstand? Indeed, nothing is hidden, except to be disclosed; and nothing is covered up, except to come out into the open. Those who have ears to hear with, let them hear!’ He also said to them, ‘Pay attention to what you are hearing! The measure with which you measure out will be used to measure to you – and more besides! For anyone who has something will be given more; but from anyone who has nothing, even what he does have will be taken away.’”CJB Verses 24b & 25 are often misquoted in reference to finances and giving. But JESUS is talking about what we hear and what we do with and about it! GOD knows everything, nothing is hidden from Him so when we try to hide things like secret sins or our relationship with GOD that we are embarrassed about in certain company it will be revealed.

Verses 26-32 JESUS returns to planting seed to teach His Eternal Kingdom, “And He said, ‘The Kingdom of GOD is like a man who scatters seed on the ground.’” The sower cannot see what is happening but the seed and the ground are doing what they are supposed to do and that brings forth fruit, then comes the harvest. That is all we need to know, we sow the seed by sharing the Gospel and HOLY SPIRIT works in the soil of the persons heart to bring forth fruit of the Kingdom. Then He talks about the mustard seed, the littlest of the field (food) seeds yet the result of its growth is a plant that birds can nest in it. In Matthew JESUS tells the disciples that if they have faith as a grain of mustard seed than they can move a mountain just by telling it to move: Matthew 17:14-21.

Verses 33-34, emphasize that JESUS only taught the people in parables but explained them to His disciples.

Verses 35-41, later that day JESUS and the disciples cross the sea of Galilee and get caught in a storm so severe that they think the boat is about to sink; even though JESUS is asleep in the stern of the boat. When they wake Him up in fear and ask doesn’t He care that they are about to die; He chastens them for their lack of faith or trust. Then He commands the storm to stop and the disciples wonder in fear who he really is. The word faith has become almost mystic in the Church, but its basic meaning is trust (I have done a study on this). So JESUS was asking the disciples, “Don’t you have any trust in Me yet?” That is the same question JESUS is asking us!

This is what is happening in America today! Those who are socialist in our government and society, those who want a socialist government to support their vision of a one world socialist government hear the truth BUT they cannot believe it. Why? Because their ears are closed and their eyes are closed and their hearts do not want to know the truth!

They want what they want and that is; to not have to live by GOD’s standards of morality, integrity and righteousness. As a class of people they want to live by their own standard of “If it feels good, do it.” “I’m my own person and I can do whatever I want whenever I want with whomever I want.”

They are haters therefore they have no grace or place for anyone who disagrees with them. Hate closes people off to hear the truth and accept other points of view as being as legitimate as theirs. The Jewish people of JESUS’ time were proud and arrogant of their religion, but they had lost touch with GOD. In John 8:31-33, “So JESUS said to the Judeans who had trusted Him, ‘If you obey what I say, then you are really My disciples, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’ They answered, ‘We are Abraham’s seed and we have never been slaves to anyone; so what do You mean by saying, “You will be set free.”’”

Really!? They were slaves in Egypt for 430 years, the spent 70 years in captivity in Babylon, they had been enslaved by the Syrians, the Greeks and at the time by the Romans. That is vanity and pride!

JESUS was talking about being slaves to sin and that is the problem of the whole world. We are slaves to sin no matter our governmental, social or religious situation. And that is the problem with those who want a socialist government; only those who are the elite truly understand that the bulk of society in a socialist system is not free to do what they want. They are enslaved by the government and elitist to provide what they want and the masses get what is left.

And the masses do not realize it until it is too late because they believe the lies of the elitists and government that they will all be equal! Only GOD can and does promise equality in life and eternity. This is through JESUS CHRIST, all are equal in sin and the need of salvation and all are equal in receiving salvation through JESUS CHRIST! Study John 1 and 2, Romans 1,2,6 and 8.

Oswald Chambers – My Utmost For His Highest

“Then JESUS said to the twelve, ‘Will you also go away.’” John 6:67

“The look of JESUS will mean a heart broken for ever from allegiance to any person or thing. Where you are “soft” with GOD is where the LORD has looked at you.”

This statement made me think of Peter’s denial of JESUS during His “trial”; when Peter had made his third denial of knowing JESUS, JESUS looked at him. Then Peter seeing JESUS’ look was broken hearted and went out and wept bitterly: Luke 22:54-62.

Peter did not remember that JESUS had told him that He prayed for him and when he returned to JESUS he was to strengthen his brothers. He only remembered that JESUS had told him he would deny Him three times: Luke 22:31-34.

Then after being with JESUS four times after His resurrection JESUS restored Peter and commissioned him to feed and care for the Church: John 21:15-19.

So Oswald’s original comment was about when JESUS was telling the people that He was the Living Bread and Living Water and they would have to eat His flesh and drink His blood and some disciples left because it was too hard to understand and believe: John 6:41-71. We know that this is the communion from the Last Supper that celebrates JESUS and our salvation by His sacrifice: Luke 22:14-20.

The communion that we take in remembrance of JESUS and what He did also reminds us that He has restored us as children of the Father and Servants of His Eternal Kingdom. That as we are one with Him we are one with the Father and His SPIRIT now lives in us: John 16 & 17.
