What has GOD called You to do?

What Has GOD Called You To Do?

You’ve heard it said, “It’s my way or the highway!” and “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Jesus tells us His way is the highway to Heaven, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life no one comes to the Father except through Me!” “Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it, because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it.”

For all those who are looking for the good life and have been taught that it should be easy or prosperous or always victorious, that things will always work out in your favor; please study what Jesus said as recorded in the Gospels and what the life experience of the first believers in Jesus life was like as found in Acts and Foxe’s Book of Martyrs.

Jesus would not have said things like, “No one can take you from the Father.” if someone was not going to try. “Blessed are those who are persecuted for Righteousness’ for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” “Your family will persecute you, cause you to be imprisoned and kill you for believing in Me and think they are serving GOD.” unless persecution was going to be a normal part of living the Christian life.

The focus of the modern western Church has become one of comfort and being blessed by GOD because we believe and confess that Jesus is our redeemer. We have forgotten that Jesus is our LORD and Redeemer! He created us from the dust of the earth in Adam, He made us a living spirit at the moment of our conception and formed us in our mother’s womb gifting and calling us for the purpose of His Kingdom on the earth and for eternity. He wrote out the days of our life before any of them existed, He pursued us until we came to the place of seeing our need for salvation and understanding that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He cleansed us in the Blood of the Lamb washing away our sin, filled us with His Spirit making us His living Temple. In return He expects us to live our life for Him as Jesus gave His life for us. Jesus expects us (because He told us) to keep His commandments and to love one another so that the world would know that we are His disciples. We are told to be holy as GOD is Holy, or set apart to GOD, by GOD, for GOD.

Christianity Is Not About What Jesus Can Do For You, It Is About What GOD Called You To Do For Jesus!

What is your gift and calling? What does GOD expect you to do in the earth and for eternity? Many Church leaders teach that this life is a preparation for our eternal call and many teach that we are in the army of GOD doing His warfare in the earth. These are true teachings but most Christians do not believe nor live by this standard. We are called to the warfare of GOD’s Kingdom on the earth, we will be attacked by His enemy the devil and his forces; but Jesus already gave us the victory! We are not to attack but to resist the devil, our offensive work is to preach the Gospel to all the nations and make them disciples of GOD’s Kingdom; to lay hands on the sick and see them recover, to cast out demons and raise the dead.

There are three basic groups of Christians, those who are almost always defeated and asking for prayer because they do not understand why they cannot not access the good life they are always hearing others talk about; those who are looking for a fight with the devil and his cohorts, running around doing things they are not called to do (see Matthew 7:21-23); and those who yield their life and will back to the Father to do the work He has called and gifted them for as Holy Spirit directs.

Study the gospels, Jesus never attacked the devil or people; the devil tempted Jesus and Jesus spoke the Word of GOD; the devil used humans to tempt and attack Jesus and Jesus yielded to the will of the Father even to going to the Cross.

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi Ha asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I, the son of man am?” They said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ the Son of the Living GOD.” Jesus said, “Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. I also say that you are Peter (a stone) and on this rock (foundation) I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.” Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ. Matthew 16:13-20

There is still some confusion in the Church about this passage but it should be clear, Jesus said that Simon was also Peter, meaning a stone; Paul teaches that all believers are living stones built on the solid rock foundation of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that the gates of hell will not be victorious against the Church build on the foundation of Christ and the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven is that whatever the Church binds or loses on earth will be bound or loosed in Heaven (this is often misunderstood and misused).

Paul tells us that we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers and rulers of darkness and he tells us to put on our armor for the warfare; helmet of Salvation, breastplate of Righteousness, shoding our feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace, the girdle or belt of Truth, the shield of Faith and the sword of the Spirit which is the Living Word. While the shield and sword are both for defense and offence the whole armor is more to resist than to attack. Paul taught us to, “Stand fast in the liberty where Christ has made us free.” to, “Resist the devil and he will flee.” We are never in the scriptures told to attack the devil or those who work for him. While we live in the world we are no longer part of the world and our fight is not against the world, the world is where we live in the natural life. The world was not made for the devil, he was cast out of heaven to the world and he gained rule over the world by Adam’s sin. Humanity was supposed to rule over the world but Adam threw that away by his disobedience to GOD’s one command, “Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”  Before we had the knowledge of good and evil we knew no sin, since humanity acquired that knowledge we have done nothing but sin. Knowing this “Christ was crucified before the foundation of the world.”

Solomon said, “A man’s steps are ordered by the LORD, so how can a person understand his own ways?” “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its’ end is destruction.”
Meaning GOD has ordained our steps or the path of our life; if we go by our own understanding and decisions then we will not understand why the things that happen to us happen. But if we yield our will to the Father and follow the leading of His Spirit then we will be able to have peace no matter what happens to us.
