Seek GOD’s
Kingdom!
Matthew 6:33 “You, seek first The
Kingdom of GOD and His Righteousness and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask, and it will be
given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For,
everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it
will be opened.”
Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, The Kingdom
of Heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one
pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Matthew 6:33 is about seeking GOD and
because you put GOD first He supplies all that you need (not want). In many
modern translations the “you” is left out, but the “you” is an imperative. Without
the “you” it is just a statement, with the “you” it is a command. Study 6:25-34
Matthew 7:7-8 is mostly
misunderstood, many believe that this is about getting stuff from GOD when it
is actually being Blessed by GOD for seeking Him. JESUS compares GOD’s Gift giving to ours, ours
is about natural things, GOD’s is about eternal things, then commands us to
treat others as we want to be treated. Study 7:7-12
Matthew 13:45-46 is about seeking
GOD, the reward is in giving up your life to find and acquire GOD’s Kingdom. The
story about the hidden treasure, it’s like the man just stumbled upon it, but
why was he wandering through a field that was not his? He was looking for
something, even if he did not know what it was. In the story of the great pearl
the man was seeking it then gave everything to have it. This is what JESUS
calls us to do, give up our life for His; Mark 8:34-38. Study 13:44-52
In all of these parable examples of
GOD’s provision it starts with the seeker. These are not about the point of
salvation; most lost people do not seek GOD’s Kingdom or Righteousness. This is
about once we are saved we then must start seeking GOD’s Kingdom and
Righteousness!
This is what Paul was saying to the
Philippians in 2:12-13, (paraphrased) “Now that you are saved you must work at
staying saved, you cannot sit around and wait for GOD to Bless you, you must
seek it by your new lifestyle, that is His Will.” Study 2:1-18
And none of these say that it will
happen right away, which is what people want. All of GOD’s promises are “Yes”
and “Amen”, but they are not promised immediately (Psalm 37:34; Isaiah 40:31; Romans
8:18-25; Philippians 3:20-21).
