What Is The Kingdom And Righteousness Of GOD?

What Is The Kingdom And Righteousness Of GOD?

“Seek you first The Kingdom of GOD and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Matthew 6:25-34 is JESUS message to Believers that if you put GOD first in your life GOD will provide everything you need for life! This message comes just about in the middle of His Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7. Everything He taught before this point and after this point depends on how we understand and obey this command. (One of about 50 commands that JESUS gave Believers.)

John The Baptist said to those coming to be baptized for their sins, “Repent, for the Kingdom of GOD is near.” JESUS said several times, “The Kingdom of GOD is at hand.” or “You are near The Kingdom of Heaven.”

So what is The Kingdom of GOD (or Heaven)? Actually it is everywhere! GOD created everything that exists, and He is GOD (there is no higher authority) over everything; GOD rules over everything; everything is subject to GOD! But what John and JESUS were specifically referring to is the place in Eternity (not in the natural creation), where He Reigns over Everything. It is what the Bible calls The New Heaven and The New Earth where His actual Throne is in The New Jerusalem (remember GOD is not subject to time, He created time for us). He is always there because He was, He is and He always will be.

So what is The Righteousness of GOD?

According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of The Bible, Righteousness from the Hebrew or Chaldean is: to be or make right in a moral or forensic sense; cleanse, clear, self; to be or do justice, justly, justify, or justify self; to be or turn to righteous or righteousness. From the Greek it is: equitable in character or action; by implication innocent, holy absolute or relative; just, meet, right, righteous; to render, show or regard as just or innocent, free, justify, justifier, be righteous. Wow!

So GOD’s Righteousness is that He is Moral therefore He is Just and The One Who justifies (Hebrew) and He is absolutely Holy and therefore He renders us righteous (Greek)! Wow!

JESUS told us to seek GOD’s Righteousness in the middle of His most pointed sermon on how to live a righteous life. Paul tells us that if we obey GOD’s commands with a pure heart JESUS will make us Righteous in GOD, 2 Corinthians 5:12-21; Peter tells us that GOD expects us to be holy because He is Holy, 1 Perer 1:13-21 where he is quoting Moses in Leviticus 20:7-8, 26.

So to GOD it is very important that after we are forgiven for our sins we live a life of faithful obedience to His Commandments so that we will be holy to Him and righteous before Him.
