Leadership!
There are two things that never stop in a Christian’s life: repentance and discipleship!
When we come humbly before GOD, recognizing we are a sinner or as a believer that we have sin in our life and ask GOD to forgive us; He does! Then we must repent – stop doing it and do what is the right thing. We confess our sin to others and allow someone who has experience and maturity to teach us and guide us in our repentance, this is called discipleship.
If we asked GOD to forgive us and then did not change our behavior but kept doing the same thing that we asked forgiveness for; then we do not have a repentant heart and we may go through the process of discipleship, but it will not stick. We have only appeased our conscience and not allowed GOD to change our life. We are still a sinner!
To be a leader of JESUS’ Body – the Church you must live a lifestyle of repentance and discipleship!
Dong the work: Philippians 2:12-16, first we have to be diligent in our walk with GOD to “seek Him first and His Righteousness” (Matthew 6:33-34). We have to work at being a Good Christian and a Good Leader. GOD will test us and try us to show us where we are weak and where we need to be humble.
Prayer: 1 Timothy 2:1-7; Paus was a preacher, apostle and a teacher; as a leader we must pray for those who lead us in the Church and in the government. With us as an example we then teach the people to pray; Matthew 6:9-13.
Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers: 1 Corinthians 12:27-31; Ephesians 4:9-16.
Preaching – Teaching: Matthew 23:6-12; 1 Timothy 2:5-7; 2 Timothy 2:14-26; 3:10-4:5; Hebrews 5:12-14.
Deacons: Acts 6:1-7; 1 Timothy 3:8-13. The first martyr was a deacon, Stephen (Acts 6:8-7:60); the first evangelist was a deacon, Phillip (Acts 8:1-13).
Bishops – Elders: 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9, 2:1-10
So being a leader is important in that you are a representative of GOD and His Purpose in the earth. As a leader you are responsible to teach and train people to know GOD and to serve GOD’s Will, starting with your own life and family. You will be tried and tested more than the average Christian because there is a greater reward for being an obedient leader. You will be persecuted more than the average Christian because you are reaching not just Christians but those who are lost. The authority of leadership is the Power of The Gospel! You must be humble before GOD and people, you must lay down your life for the believers, you must take up your cross everyday and follow JESUS wherever He takes you! Amen!
