Know and Obey the Word!

I hear people say and I see people write disparaging things about the Bible often, they say such things as, “It was only written by men.” “It’s been rewritten so much how can you know it’s true?” “It’s not relevant for today’s society.” “It’s used by manipulators.” The truth is that it is the only reliable book (authorized by GOD not King James of England) on GOD and how He deals with humanity. While there are many books about GOD the only factual and relevant ones are based on the Bible. Why? Without this being a study on Church and Bible history, let me just repeat what Jesus said, “And it happened, as He (Jesus) spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!’ But He said, ‘More than that, blessed are those who hear the Word of GOD and keep it!’” Luke 11:27-28 NKJV

When Jesus walked the earth as the Son of GOD – Son of Man the only Word of GOD was what we call the Old Testament. Today the world has both the Old and New Testaments and whatever controversy exists, whatever false teaching there is and whatever false Christian religions have been created by men; the Bible is still the primary means of communication between the True and Living GOD and humanity. If you want to know about GOD, if you want to have a relationship with GOD then you must read, study and understand the Bible.

No matter what men have done to the Bible it is still the only reliable collection of books (histories, stories, songs, poems, prophecies, instructions, letters and revelations) that tells humanity who GOD is, what He has done for them and what He expects from them. There is no other book like the Bible in format and substance; 66 books written by 40 men over a couple of thousand years and no matter how you arrange them their message is the same.

Yes it was written by men, but those men had a relationship with GOD and allowed His Spirit to guide them as they wrote. Those who claim to believe in GOD even to be Christians but doubt the authenticity of the Bible and the power of the Word of GOD do not truly know GOD!

The key point that many miss is that the Bible is the physical representation of the Living Word – Jesus Christ. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD. He was in the beginning with GOD...And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-2, 14 NKJV Many use the name of Jesus or the Bible for their own greedy, wicked, or immoral purposes. Many have made war in the name of Jesus and committed horrendous crimes against humanity, but that does not change who Jesus is, what He did or what He will do!

Yes the Bible and the name of Jesus have been miss used and abused! That does not change what the Bible is or who Jesus is. We will be held accountable for what we believe that is why it is imperative that we read and study the Bible daily. “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’” John 8:31-32 NKJV To known the truth you have to abide in the Word of GOD, the Bible. To do that you have to study it, not just listen to what others say it means, not just read it, but study it. Use the cross reference, a Bible dictionary, a concordance and other versions. Most importantly ask the Spirit of GOD (the Holy Spirit) that guided its writers.

“Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our GOD and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of GOD and of Jesus our LORD,…Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our LORD Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from GOD the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain (Matthew 17:1-9). And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of GOD spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known; the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of GOD may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Peter 1:1-2, 15-21; 2 Timothy 3:13-17)
