America A Dry And Thirsty Land

For several years America has been a dry and thirsty land both physically and spiritually. Physically the land has been dry and parched in many regions under the greatest droughts ever recorded which led to fewer crops harvested, fewer meat and poultry products available for the market, therefore costs of food and other products were higher. The dryer weather also led to greater fires which led to loss of life, loss of housing, loss of production, loss of peace for many.
The north east had the wettest and longest winter in decades during 2014 – 2015. During the summer of 2015 the drought was broken in the southern plains region. This winter of 2015 – 2016 the west coast is just starting to feel the relief of an El Nino weather pattern. This is good and the answer of prayer by many people and religious groups. But the breaking of these droughts has brought loss of life, loss of housing, loss of production, loss of peace for many, not just on the west coast but also in the central and southern plains.
While most are blessed many are harmed physically, emotionally, and financially by the breaking of the droughts.
The same is true of the spiritual drought America has been in for decades, many people and religious groups have been praying for spiritual breakthrough in our land. There is a cost that some will pay for the release of GOD’s Spirit. The spiritual drought in America is from more than one source, but the root cause is sin in the Church. If during the 20th century the Church had been walking in the spiritual and moral teachings of Jesus, America would not be in the spiritual drought it is in.
As the people of GOD pray and fast seeking His presence in their lives, families, churches and communities He will come! It’s not about convincing Him to help and deliver us, it’s about seeking His presence in our lives and that will bring His mercy and deliverance. But not only will His presence bring spiritual renewal and revival to the Church and nation, it will bring judgment on the Church and nation. While this will be a blessing for many it will bring pain, loss, and even death to some in the Church and the nation. Some will not heed the call to repentance that is the first result of GOD’s presence. Pride that has led to sin in the Church will blind some to their sin and need to repent instead they will be judgmental and reject what GOD is doing. They will join with those who are opposed to GOD’s presence by default of rejecting GOD’s presence.
If we truly want revival in America then it first must come to the Church, the Body of Christ cannot be full of sin and reveal the need of society to repent of its’ sin. “If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the most quoted and misunderstood scripture for revival, read the whole chapter and GOD’s conversation with Solomon in verses 12 thru 22. It is not about revival but about judgment and repentance. Let’s read verses 12 thru 16, “Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him; ‘I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.’” NKJV. We know that since Christ’s sacrifice and ascension that we the believers in Christ are the Body of Christ in the world and we the Church is now the house of GOD in the world. While Israel is still GOD’s chosen people we have the Spirit of GOD and the Great Commission.

If we truly want GOD to revive America we first must let Him revive us, the Church! This will only happen as we humble ourselves, admit our sin and inabilities; pray; seek His face, His presence; and turn from our wicked ways, repent! Then He will hear, forgive and heal!
