Vanity, aloofness, selfrighteousness, arrogance, boastful and other words are used to describe pride. Pride is the personality (mindset) that makes one person think they are better than everyone else.

In his book, Humility, Andrew Murray says that, “Pride is the root of all sin.”

In His Book, The Bible, GOD says that “Pride goes before a fall, but the humble will be lifted up.” (Proverbs 16:18-19, 29:23)

Where does pride come from? The devil, who is the father of lies (Genesis 3, John 8:44); Adam and Eve were not prideful, but the devil is and he lied to them. Pride entered humanity through Cain; Cain was jealous of his brother Able. Able’s offering was accepted by GOD but not Cain’s. Because of Cain’s pride he killed his brother, because he did not want to follow GOD’s Way, he wanted to do things his way. The Bible does not say that the devil taught Cain to be proud, but who else was there who was self promoting.

But that is personal pride, what about group pride? Socialist, communist, fascist, elitists, leftist and liberals all reject GOD and believe that they know what is best for everyone else and that everyone else should follow their instructions on how to live. This is group pride and GOD Will judge those who practice group pride the same as those who practice personal pride (Proverbs 6:16-19; Romans 1:28-32).

Be humble! Seek GOD First!
