Luke 14:33 by Pastor Chris Leeper

 "So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:33)

Please Read Luke 14:25-35 For context.

This is what I hear the LORD saying in this passage: “I am worthy of all influence over your life; so much so that it would appear that you hate others who have a different opinion than ME. I hate it when you are moved away from ME by this world, the flesh, devil, and your family. I must be the ONE voice you listen to, the ONE who guides your thoughts, feelings, emotions, direction, and confidence. Through salvation and adoption, I have taken over your life so much so that everything I tell you must be taken as if there is no other option or voice in your life. I have complete dominion over every fabric of your being. I created you, guide you, and sustain you in everything. Your old life has been lost and you have come into MY life. There is no more of you, but only ME, MY heart, MY direction, motivation, love, and life. When you forget this you live a life that I never intended for you. This is why you feel the pain and torment of that life because I didn’t create you for this. Renounce all; become MY disciple; follow ME in everything; lose yourself and find MY life as your sole guide, voice, power, and love.  Become one with ME; seek nothing else but ME; love ME above all, and renounce your fallen life, this world, and everything in it. This is the life I intend for all MY children - a life that flourishes in MY life. There is no other plan for you. This is it – ME!”

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30)
