You Are What You Think!

You Are What You Think!

I just heard the end of a Kenneth Copeland message titled something like “Speak the Word of GOD for Your Healing.” I don’t know what Scripture he based his teaching on but the one that came to my mind was, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he…” Proverbs 23:7a

His point that I agree with is that a person says what they think and they think what they say. He was emphasizing that what we say will lock us into good or bad results and he had a couple of real life examples. One was of two brothers who were close like twins, one of them kept saying that he would die before he reached a certain age and he died two months before that age. His brother and his mother both said that he always said that he would die before he reached that age and so he did.

There are lots of Scriptures that speak about our heart attitude and the effect of our words, remember JESUS said we would be judged for every word that we speak, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:35-37

So what we think effects what we say and what we say effects what we think, it’s a circle of positive or negative results in our lives. It’s not some positive thinking or say it and claim it philosophy, it’s a Law of GOD: fill your mind and heart with GOD’s Word and receive life, fill your heart and mind with the devils words and receive death. It’s a choice we make; what we read, watch and listen to influences our thinking which influences our speaking which influences our life results.

Therefore, read and study the Bible, but not just that; read only wholesome moral life giving material, watch only wholesome moral life giving programs and listen to only wholesome moral life giving voices. We need to be informed about what is going on in the world, but we should not be dependent on only secular sources, there are Christian sources for news, information and education that we should also if not solely watch and listen to. We should not be entertained by the world, there are Christian shows, dvds, movies and live entertainment that we should be watching and making sure our children are primarily watching.

It is our responsibility what we fill our life with and we will reap the results in this life and the next life.

Seek GOD First!
