2 Peter 1:1 “Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of JESUS CHRIST. To those who have obtained like precious Faith with us by the Righteousness of our GOD and Savior JESUS CHRIST.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

 

1:2-4 Grace and Peace:

:2-3 (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; 1 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

:4 (2 Corinthians 1:20-22, 7:1; Philippians 4:8-9).

 

1:5-12 Fruitful growth in the Faith:

:5-6  (2 Peter 3:17-18).

:6 perseverance = patience

:7 (Galatians 6:9-10).

:8 (John 15:1-2, 7-8; barren = useless).

:9 (1 John 2:9-11).

:10-11 (Philippians 2:12-14; 1 John 3:16-19).

:12 (Philippians 3:1; 1 John 1:12-14).

 

1:13-15 Peter’s approaching death:

Every one of the apostles, except John died as a martyr!

:13 (2 Corinthians 5:1-4; 2 Peter 3:1; tent = body).

:14-15 (Mark 10:35-39; John 13:36, 21:18-19; 2 Timothy 4:6; put off = die and leave this body; decrease = Literally exodus, depart).

 

1:16-21 True Prophesy:

:16-18 (1 Corinthians 1:17-19; Ephesians 1:15-23; 2 Timothy 3:16;  Matthew 17:1-5; John 20:30-31).

:19-21 (John 1:1-9; Revelation 2:28, 22:6, 16).
