Ecclesiastes Chapter 7
Part
1 vs. 1-3
Complete
Jewish Bible
When Soloman writes Ecclesiastes
he seems disappointed and discouraged about the results of his life choices and
how he sees the lives of others working out in the world.
Solomon knew the True and Living
GOD JEHOVAH, he knew of the Promised Messiah but could not reconcile what he
experienced and saw with the Promise. We have the Promised Messiah, JESUS
CHRIST, we have no excuse for this kind of sorrow!
:1 A good name is better than
perfumed oil (precious ointment Exodus 29:1-7; Psalm 133; Proverbs 22:1;
Matthew 26:6-13) and the day of death better than the day of birth (Job 3:1,
10-11; Ecclesiastes 4:1-3).
:2-3 Better to go to a house of
mourning than to go to a house of feasting (Proverbs 15:15-17, for all are
destined to be mourned (Nehemiah 8:8-10; Matthew 5:4) the living should lay
this to heart; grief (sorrow) is better than laughter, for sadness can improve
a person ( 2 Corinthians 7:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14; Proverbs 17:22;
Deuteronomy 32:28-29; Psalm 90:12; 2 Peter 3:10-11).
