Joel
Fasting
And Repentance
Chapter 1-2:14 Is GOD’s Judgment
against Israel and GOD’s Call to Repentance to Israel.
Chapter 2:15-3 Is GOD’s Call to
Repentance and final Judgment against the nations (Battle of Armageddon,
Revelation 16:12-16, 19:11-21).
Chapter 2:1, 15-16a “Blow the
trumpet (ram’s horn or shofar) in Zion and sound the alarm in My Holy Mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for The Day of JEHOVAH is coming,
for it is at hand:” (Joel is calling the people of Israel to repentance because
The Kingdom of Heaven was at hand; John the Baptist and JESUS each called the
people of Israel to Repentance because The Kingdom of GOD was at hand (Matthew
3:1-2, 4:17, now The Kingdom is here) “…Blow the trump in Zion concreate a Fast
(Isaiah 58; Zechariah 7), call a sacred assembly (Nehemiah 8:1, 8-10; 9-10,
read 9:1-3); gather the people, sanctify the Congregation, assemble the Elders,
gather the children and nursing babies;”
JESUS fasted: Matthew 4:1-2.
JESUS said “…When you fast…” Matthew
6:16-18; 9:14-15.
JESUS said, “…this kind does not go out except by Prayer and Fasting!” Matthew 17:21.
Paul fasted: 2 Corinthians 6:4-6.
Paul said “…give your selves to
fasting…” 1 Corinthians 7:5.
Fasting should be part of our
normal Christian Life, not just something we do in an emergency!
